A windowless garage was turned into a home. Incredible isn’t it? The garage renovation with a tight budget and an inspiring couple was finally made true with the help of Fala Atelier. Pretty, simple and just the way we like it: with a touch of vintage home inspiration.

The modern house design was commissioned by a young couple to the Portuguese architecture studio, Fala Atelier. The Porto based studio was with tremendous, challenging and engaging work in their hands: turn a garage into a home.
The couple, with a tight budget on their hands, wanted something fresh and out of the ordinary. The now home has a parking space for their car while maintaining several features of the old design. An open floor plan with bright spaces makes this one of the coolest homes we’ve ever had the pleasure of viewing.
The commission: convert the 200-square-metre garage into a livable space for a couple. The goal was achieved by turning the grey and dark space into a clean and white space. Located in a 50’s building bursting with colour, the only space existing came from the outside.
The interior design project was a minimal one. The touches of the vintage home ideas were simple but leave a mark in the whole space. The best feature is definitely the vintage car!
The way the vintage industrial style was fitted to the place is an outstanding fit. All of the homestyle fills the room without being too much but it doesn’t leave room to be less. The expression “less is more” is for sure a motto in this home design. The colour palette, the furniture that was chosen and the division of rooms were clearly thought out to be the most practical yet, identifiable ones.
