Oporto is going to be the city host of one of the most wanted events of the year that will join together all the elements to discuss what’s new in the luxury business.

Prepare yourself, Oporto is going to be the stage of one and only Luxury Design Craftsmanship Summit 2018, organized by the Portuguese Group, Covet. An event organized in association with Thinkers & Makers Foundation, whose mission is to celebrate and honor the craftsmanship and every single person who creates soulful pieces with their own hands!
This luxury and design event is one of the only events in the world that will gather thinkers, makers, creative minds, master artisans, and much more, in order to discuss and preview what is next in the Design and Luxury World.
The whole point of this event is to give new perspectives of luxury branding and to observe the most innovative practices of luxury design industries as the main element of the growth and elevation of national design and craftsmanship.

Oporto is a city known for its heritage, the proud of its roots, and its craftsmanship. The event will occur in a building design by the famous Portuguese Architect, Siza Vieira, called Multiusos de Gondomar.
Gondomar is a humble city, full of devotion for ancient crafts like the well-known and stunning jewelry pieces in filigree, so it is the perfect city to receive the 1st edition of the Luxury Design and Craftsmanship Summit!
The two-day event will present an outstanding line-up of keynote speakers to provide a lively debate and informed conversation for those who seek to be at the forefront of the Luxury Design field!

The first day will count with the evaluation of the importance of the craftsmanship in the luxury design world with studies that present how this can bring exclusivity and authenticity. The first day with end with a Port of Honor of the beloved city major, Marco Martins.
On the second day, there will be two different panels: “Design as a Driving force for Local Craftsmanship”, a closer look into the rise of the Designer-Maker, a journey from the past towards a new cultural progress to promote creativity and innovation, while respecting traditions and safeguarding heritage. The closing panel will be “Luxury Branding: The Behind the Scenes Story” and it will debate the connection between the heritage techniques and its usage for the most recent marketing campaigns of leading luxury business brands.
During these two-day event, the craftsmanship will be discussed and there will be a reflection towards the importance of ancient crafts techniques in this digital world and how this can be a useful tool for luxury brands and other arts.
The Speakers confirmed names for the events are Michaelangelo Foundation, an international non-profit entity that celebrates and preserves master craftsmanship and strengthens its connection to the world of design; Fundação Ricardo Espírito Santo Silva, a foundation created with the objective of protecting and disseminating the Portuguese Decorative Arts and the handicrafts related to them; Luís Onofre, designer of luxury shoes and accessories and President of APICCAPS; Vista Alegre, the oldest porcelain factory in the Iberian Peninsula; Topázio, a Portuguese company with more than 140 years of history, expert in the creation and production of unique designed hand-carved silver; Boca do Lobo, Portuguese brand of furniture-art design recognized for its unique and innovative design always hand-worked.
